OVERVIEW

The importance of taking a complaint seriously – offering whatever help Is necessary and recognizing that the person being accused has the right to due process.  We all operate from our own biases, and it is important to know what they are so we can get out of our own way to conduct aninvestigation in the workplace

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND

Learning about some of the most common problems in the workplace and strategies for handling them; useful not only in the workplace, but in all aspects of life. Get tips on investigating workplace complaints. In addition, learning about common biases will enable you to better understand your own responses to situations in your life.

AREAS COVERED

Examples of complaints, summary of laws pertaining to harassment and discrimination and how to conduct proper investigations.  Also,learn aboutconducting workplace investigations and common biases we all experience.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

In this course you will first be given examples of sexual harassment and the outcomes based on how the complaint was handled.  This will be followed by a brief summary of the laws pertaining to harassment and discrimination.  Finally, we will focuson how to conduct how to conduct an investigation in the workplace, keeping it neutral, comprehensive and fair.

WHO WILL BENEFIT

In particular anyone in management and HR who is asked to investigate internal complaints.Also, anyone who wants to learn more about how people react due to their own internal biases.
