A big change has occurred in the Construction market that has significant implications on PPE experts and suppliers as well as those involved in the Construction business. That change is the effective date May 15, 2008 for the new OSHA regulation regarding safety standards in the Construction Industry. The rule, Employer Payment for Personal Protective Equipment, became effective February 13, 2008, and fines have already started to be levied to those who are not in compliance.

These changes represent a great opportunity for those of use involved in the PPE industry and are concerned with helping our customers. Now more than ever our customers and prospects need our help in specifying the right hand protection products for each application and make it easy for them to purchase those products. Customers also need to know more about cut protection, the causes and effective product solutions. To help you better understand the new standards and how to better help your customers, we have included the following:

• Explanation of the new OSHA standards for PPE and a Q&A guide to help you communicate these changes to your customers. Main theme is that employers are now responsible for the issuance and use of PPE, including work gloves for hazards such as lacerations, abrasions and chemicals.

• Recent cut protection article by Sean Sweeney that appeared in the March 2008 issue of ISHN entitled “Construction workers: guard your hands with the proper gloves for the task.”

• Construction Video DVD stressing the importance of keeping the right glove on workers hands. Jam packed with trade application demonstrations, testimonials and even a cut demonstration between leather and the Hyflex® 11-501, this video can be used as an important tool when selling Ansell construction products.

You will find other effective educational and selling tools at our new website, The sites new interactive “Find A Glove” application allows the user to find the right glove for their specific application and cut level. The need for your solutions have never been greater, the situation for the unique solutions Ansell offers has never been more timely. Seize the moment!
