Experts say that the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, could make a comeback when kids head back to school, leaving parents to worry about their children’s health. In light of these mounting concerns, SafetySkills™ has decided to offer their Flu Symptoms and Prevention Strategies course to the public at no charge at www.safetyskills.com.

“Parents need to feel confident that their children are safe and will not be exposed to this disease,” said Trey Greene, CEO of noodleStream.com. “We hope that as many people as possible will come to our website to take this course because it can help everyone, but especially parents and childcare providers keep one of the most vulnerable groups safe from swine flu.”

Besides children, it has been reported that pregnant women and the elderly are among the groups at the highest level of risk when it comes to the H1N1 virus according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Taking advantage of all the means available to the public in order to prevent spread of swine flu is the best bet, but the trickiest part is getting children to do their part.

“At our school we always ask students if they washed their hands when they return from the bathroom,” said Kathy Patterson, Kindergarten Teacher at Colleyville Elementary School. “We place signs in the bathrooms, especially ones next to the doorknobs as reminders. We also teach our kids to sing their ABCs while washing their hands.” This ensures that the children washed their hands long enough to kill all of the potentially harmful bacteria.

I have to admit, I was a member of the faction that assumed that the swine flue was, a proverbial white elephant, and was the baby of media hype, but after, reading a few well written articles, I feel that I am reversing my opinion.
Many people, I believe are doing the same, the initial onset and then the fizzle out of the strain before it really took hold threw many a curved ball, and led them to feel that it was simply a minor issue.
Don't be fooled, there is a very real possibility that this virus, will hit back with a vengeance, come the start of the oncoming flue season, a resent study, I saw by a prominent insurance company indicated that up to 60% of the work force could be effected by the virus. As Heather has rightly said, the children returning to school is the perfect catalyst for the transmission of this flue, and precaution now is a must, I do not want to appear to be a scare monger, but now is the time to initiate a plan to hold back the tide that I believe is coming, There are many good informational centers on this topic, and I urge people to get informed now, not later KNOWLEDGE IS POWER Be safe and stay healthy.
