Best - Showa Dyneema 540D Gloves

These may quite possibly be the best gloves I have ever put on my hands.

I just wish that they could make the sleeves to do the same... but they wont coat correctly. Ah well.

2008 Data Breaches Surpass 2007 Levels

The number of reported data breaches in the United States has already surpassed 2007's total; more states now require breach reporting; experts also say that the development of SQL injections made breaches much easier

According to a report the Identify Theft Resource Center, this dramatic increase in breaches is somewhat attributable to changes in state's rules about mandatory reporting (more than 40 states… Continue

Safety Glasses

I have noticed a lot of people wearing prescription glasses thinking they meet the requirments for industrial safety glasses and have no clue as to how to assess whether they are industrial safety glasses or not!!! Has anyone else come across this?

Fall Protection

Over the past several months I have encountered people wearing fall protection who have no clue about what they are doing. Most common is someone up 12 feet and tied off at their fett. They are 5'11'' or better with a 6 foot lanyard!!!
Has anyone else come across this?

Videos and anecdotes

I've talked before in discussions about the use of silly, funny videos before, during, and after training to keep the associates entertained and also drive future training. If you would like to see some copies of videos that I use, email me at jbeck@srob.com and I'll share them. I'm sure many of you have seen and used them as well. Maybe you have some I don't. Let's make each other laugh.

Training Powerpoint

Some people have been asking for a copy of the Communicating for Safety Excellence powerpoint that was discussed in the Supervisor training discussion. I can't get it to upload correctly here. If you would like a copy of it, just email me at jbeck@srob.com. I'd be glad to share it along with other things. Thanks

ARC FLASH FACT

The surface of the sun burns approximatley 10,000 degrees whereas the arc flash can heat the air to temperatures as high as 35,000 degrees. Serious burns are not uncommon even at a distances of 10 feet and fatal at a few feet. a report compiled by Capelli-Schellpfeffer, Inc., estimates that 5 to 10 arc flash explosions happen in the U.S. every day, resulting in 1 -2 deaths per day. Food for thought.

Hurricane Gustav...

For those of you along the Gulf Coast, or those who have interests thereof, all eyes should be on Gustav.

There are several sites that work well with keeping tabs on the latest. weatherunderground.com is great, especially for checking out the latest computer models. Another model to keep tabs on weather related issues is http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php. Of course you all know about Weather.com as well as keeping abreast of your local weather channels.
