How to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria

When you think of PPE, what do you see? Maybe you see a hard hat. It's a perfect example of protective gear that'll save your employees from nasty accidents

This is the sort of thing most people would think of if you told them to consider PPE and what it is.

But do you ever think of how Personal Protective Equipment can protect your employees from illness? PPE can act as a barrier between your employees and germs and bacteria.

In fact, when it comes to PPE for protection against health risks there are two types your employees can't go without

Does your employees' work expose them to germs and bacteria?

There are some health concerns in most industries. There are others, though, where the work could directly expose your employees to germs and bacteria.

These are:

    • Medical fields (doctors, nurses and paramedics);

    • Medical laboratory researchers;

    • First aiders; and

  • Biohazard transporters.

If your employees work in any of these fields, they come into contact with germs and bacteria every day. But there are two pieces of protective gear you can use to help protect them from these health hazards

Use these two types of PPE to protect your employees from contact with germs and bacteria

Rubber gloves: If your employees come into contact with people who are sick or they work with biohazards, they must wear rubber gloves.

They must throw these away after they're finished so they don't spread any of the germs or bacteria.

Face Masks: Your employees can inhale germs or bacteria. This is why face masks can be extremely important. They'll protect your employees from breathing in or even spreading germs to people who are already sick.

So, if your employees are in any of these industries, ensure they use these two types of protective wear.
