STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE TO BECOME A SAFETY OFFICER

Actions to be DONE FOR becoming a safety officer.

1.PICK UP THE INDUSTRY / TYPE OF INDUSTRY WHERE YOU WISH TO WORK FOR

It means that literally any type of industry – right form business / education / mining, construction field, health care.

2.DO GET EXPERIENCE IN THAT PARTICULAR FIELD.

Every practical experience at work place counts, even if it is not related directly with occupational health and safety.

It will be more  advantage, if  in case you work in a position where you can develop and utilize a part of the skills specified before, (for example, communication and verbal skills , decision making , problem solving techniques, basic reasoning abilities). which   are known as transferable skills, it  implies that you can learn them in one workplace, and can effectively  apply them in another.

3.Develop your various skills and knowledge in OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETYmanagement

This can be done by,

  • Finishing relevant training qualifications, it should be of your concern industry or specific area .
  • Job shadowing somebody , working in occupational health and safety field
  • Starting the career as junior role in OHSM or some other relevant role, like Safety Representative, compliance officer, operations assistant  and much more. to get practical experience on workplace.

 4.Make yourself appy for the FOR SAFETY OFFICER POSITIONS in reputed organizations.  

This can be done by,   

  • Constant enquiry about various job opportunities which may be available inside the current employer’s industry.
  • Looking for jobs via online
  • Referring newspapers , magazines, newsletters for job advertisements
  • Discovering jobs on community notice board for jobs.
  • Finding job offers through your professional network.
