One of the most important factors that go to arm an organization with the ability to be productive is workforce management. Workforce management is something that needs to be actively implemented in almost all kinds of at various levels. This means that workforce management is never uniform. It depends on the kind of industry and work environment that the organization has.

An educational institution's workforce management is vastly different from that of say, a factory. So, with the dynamics of the workplace being vastly different from one another; workforce management is something that needs to be worked on at an individual level.

Continuous processes and policies
Workforce management may be described as a collection or set of comprehensive and holistic practices and processes, implementing which the workforce's efficiency gets optimized. This gets compartmentalized into the particular unit of the organization, such as the individual, the location of work, the department in which the individual works, and so on.

At the individual level, the workforce management issues that confront a manager are vastly different from those of a programmer. Workforce management is about making the right customization of the needs of the individual.

Other aspects of workforce management
Workforce management, which concerns the judicious use of workforce resources, also entails other factors. An organization may have to see whether a certain department is overloaded with staff or if the staff is overloaded with work.
