What type of trivia questions do you use?
After classroom training I have my group head out to the parking lot. I have them set up their own "obstacle course". Based on the size of the class I seperate them into groups and have them compete against one another. The Grand prize is usually a gift card from a local pizza parlor or neighborhood deli where the winning team can enjoy the spoils.
Search the net for actual Forklift incidents and include them along with pictures if any available as a learning tool. Also look at your companies incidents and include them. I have been an expert witness in two cases involving serious forklift incidents and always include what the operator did wrong in these cases. Story telling is an excellent way to inprove your presentations
Have the class set up their own obstacle course for the hands on evaluation. It works!!
I normally get a more positive response from trainees if I get them involved in problem solving situations. Give them a scenario and ask how they would resolve each of the challenges. I am talking more about operating the Forklift rather than classroom instructions. For an example, should they be permitted to unbuckle their seat belt to see the load that they are carring with the Forklift? Why not? Would one be permitted to add additional weight to the rear of the Forklift to pickup heavier loads? What should the operator do if his load came crashing down to the floor/ground and he was suddenly lilfted out of his seat? That is just a few conditions you can use to make Forklift training more challenging for the attendees.

Good luck.

You could show a funny video first! One that I have used in the past is found on youtube, here is the link if you would like to take a peek. It is in German, but has English subtitles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22ehEhZ9A68&feature=related
You can use real real life training programs. You can make the training more interesting by asking questions every time your finished discussing a certain topic by randomly pick someone to answer. With this way, you can assure students awareness are open and make them alert during the class.

Since the shop’s location is near the main road, I want to make sure that everyone is safe during the work. I can’t afford any accident like people getting injured. So I’m thinking of purchasing construction health and safety signs from a supplier that my friend recommended.…See More
