Event Description

OVERVIEW

Ranging from employee performance issues to horrific mass murders, workplace violence is responsible for bringing both staggering economic losses and significant personal safety risks to businesses and the people that work in or visit them. Learn how to assess and manage workplace violence threat through this unique, multimedia presentation that will help you to increase overall safety and pro-actively prevent workplace attacks.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND

Over 2 million incidents of workplace violence are reported annually in America, with over 400 on-the-job homicides per year. In 2015, over 16,000 employees reported being assaulted by a co-worker, but many occurrences of workplace violence are due to outside sources such as former employees, robbers, intimate partners of workers, or even ideological terrorists.

AREAS COVERED

This unique 90 minute workplace violence prevention training facilitated by experienced trainer Lynn Fairweather, begins with an exploration of the issue of workplace violence in America by examining definitions and prevalence rates, the five main categories of workplace violence, and the particular risks that various industries and employees may face. Next, the training turns to the careful, holistic assessment of workplace violence risk by revealing the employee perpetrator risk factors and behavioural warning signs that may accompany impending attacks. Participants will learn about utilizing workplace violence safety tips and highly validated workplace violence assessment tools, and uncover the basic principles of threat assessment and management that will assist them with evaluating and handling workplace violence cases.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Participants will develop a deeper understanding of workplace violence and how it impacts employees, as well as the business overall
  • Participants will be able to list known perpetrator risk factors for workplace violence, and demonstrate knowledge of the behavioral warning signs that are associated with impending attacks
