Dennis, I recently found this company that offers "flash cards" to study fo rthe CSP. I used flash cards to study for my Ham radio exams and found them beneficial. Perhaps others can evaluate the site and let us know what you think? http://www.mo-media.com/csp/

Ok I have taken the new format of the CSP 2x's now and failed each time. My study resources are, the CSP Prep Course offered by Langlois, Weigand & Associates, Inc., the ASSE CD-Rom and the BCSP Study guide. Am I just missing something on these or can anyone recommend any better study material than these that I have listed?

Thanks,

Dennis

I would just like to say Hi to every one, and encourage others to join, we need more communities of this nature to be able to air and evolve within Lets make safety the norm not the red headed step child.

Glad I found this community and this group in particular. My company, PEC/Premier Safety Management, administers what is called SafeGulf, which is a standardized safety orientation for the offshore oil and gas industry. SafeLand (similar to SafeGulf) is on its way and is expected to be a requirement of several of the Majors and Independents for land-based facilities by January 2010. We have Train the Trainer courses available so if anyone has questions about it or gets this request from their customers, you know who to ask. Also, if anyone is required to complete the Standardized Safety Questionnaire (SSQ) and needs assistance, we own and administer that as well so feel free to ask (free for service contractor).

I work as a HACCP / ISO 22000 Consultant in Ghana. My work has led me to several places where there is an attempt to implement a formal occupational health & safety program. The problem is , there is no institution in Ghana offering OH&S diploma or degree programs. There are no professional safety institutions too...Therefore who implements these programs??? Most of them are engineering graduates who are recruited for such responsibilities immediately after university. You therefore witness very interesting Textbook Health & Safety Programs which usually results in lack of confidence in HSE programs, under-achievement of safety objectives, intimidation and a total cosmetic approach to HSE by the organizations. I think we need to create such professional institutions here as being practiced by the ACCA, CIM, etc for the accounting & marketing professionals respectively.

As Steve Geigle mentioned, the Institute for Safety and Health Management at www.ishm.org administers the CSHM certification. They have now achieved accreditation for this certification through CESB!!

Just wanted to say hi from a new guy and encourage everyone to check out the Institute for Safety and Health Management at www.ishm.org. The organization administers the CSHM certification. It appears they are close to achieving accreditation with the CSEB so I anticipate more interest in this management certification.

OSHA and Machine Guard Door Safety???

We have what we feel is not a unique situation and were wondering if anyone might of run across this challenge and know more about the requirements.  We are building a small machine system that includes some pneumatic components and some heated plates inside a small guard system.  We include emergency stops on the machine and if they are actuated it removes all electric current and dumps all air pressure from the machine.  We have several electrically interlocked doors that can be opened to…See More
